Colby J Clark
Environmental Philosophy /
Complex Systems Theory
About Me:
Hello! My name is Colby. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah in the Philosophy department.
My research engages two dimensions of environmental philosophy from a geographical, complex systems theory perspective. The first dimension concerns the philosophy of science. I am interested in how ecosystems are defined as objects of study across scales. The philosophy of science research informs my work on issues in applied ethics, the second dimension. I study the ethical features of experimental management interventions intended to conserve biodiversity, mitigate the effects of climate change, and address issues of environmental justice in a social-ecological context.
Besides research and teaching, I enjoy jogging, watching cheesy sci-fi movies and TV shows, and buying a Fast Pass to ride roller coasters all day at the nearest amusement park.
